A Doggy Raya

Salam..
I somehow feel obliged to write on my views on the current hype of the "raya with dogs" video.

I feel that its a two-part thing going on here.

1) She made that video to promote love and compassion towards dogs.
2) Acts of washing the dogs' paws mimic ablution or wudhu'.

To those who have yet to watch the video, please do so before reading on.

I feel that while #2 is causing her to get jailed, but #1 is much stronger in intention, and purpose of the video.
However, we cant rely on the machiavellian principle of 'the ends justify the means', and thus, #2 would put her in a much more complicated situation (as she is right now).
and if #2 is the reason she made the video in the first place, then yes, she is obliged to be under the law.

If you ask me, i feel that she deserves to be slipped off this case as the purpose of the video does not seem to be very harmful. However, it was her own mistake that got her in this situation. she touched on a sensitive issue and her bad movie making skills(which caused so many interpretations) has pushed her to the wrong side.

I hope that her case gets sorted out. If punishment is what she will get from JAKIM, then i trust that JAKIM must have a stronger reason then "there are dogs" in this video, and i am sure that they do + they're just following guidelines.

wallahualam.

You know, a funny thing is, at the end of it she said something about having a happy raya regardless of your species, colour & origin.
Maybe she was trying to promote unity... something as innocent as that. But why on Earth did she have to use her dogs??? :/
People should really think things through when they put something on the internet.

Just saw on the news that JAKIM did that as a deterrent to the public.
Think they're right in the end.
